About Jason Lee Jones

Jason Lee Jones was born in Georgia to a family of farmers. His mothers' parents were highly influential in his early life. Their land, upon which the old family home sits, includes cattle, a produce farm, a nursery, and plenty of horses from pasture boarding. As a testament to the small size of his hometown, Jason was delivered by the same doctor who delivered his brother, mother, and aunt.

Jason grew up on a rural dirt road and spent his childhood farming, fishing, and hunting. Though his family is predominately Methodist, his mother did not wish to indoctrinate Jason and his brother in any one religion and took pains to expose them to other faiths. With most of the men in his family former military personnel, it was only natural and expected that he and his brother would follow in their footsteps. For much of his youth, Jason received considerable encouragement to pursue a career in the military and public service.

It was during this time, while still in high school, that Jason first became involved in politics, working on the reelection campaign of Georgia Agricultural Commissioner Tommy Irvin (D). That the electorate was highly Republican did not deter Jason. The dedication he exhibited then as a teenager to the Democratic Party would never waver.

In 1994, Jason was in a near-fatal auto accident and broke his back and neck. After more than a year of recovery and with his hopes of a military career dashed, he worked as a canvasser for Georgia Democrat Max Cleland's senate campaign and then moved to San Francisco. Shortly after his arrival in the Bay Area in 1996, Jason discovered success as a web developer during the dot-com boom. When the tech industry went downhill, Jason again turned to politics in 2003, joining the presidential campaigns of General Wesley Clark (D), Senator John Edwards (D-NC), and Senator John Kerry (D-MA).

After the 2004 election, Jason more fully dedicated himself to civic engagement, enrolling in college with the goal of gaining a larger social conscience and a greater commitment to his community. His time at City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University has given him an opportunity to pursue his interest in public policy. On the side he manages Bay Area band Sugar & Gold and does vaudevillian theatre with the Hubba Hubba Revue, a vaudeville comedy and burlesque production in the Bay Area.

Jason Lee Jones' greatest interest lies in policies concerned with the advancement of those disenfranchised, in poverty, or lacking the most basic necessities in life. It is this lifelong commitment to post-partisan civic engagement that drives his desire to serve the 12th District of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.
